Wet sanding

Wet sanding, also called water sanding, is a controlled abrasive method using water-compatible (waterproof) abrasive paper to reduce heat, friction and clogging. It’s used on clearcoat, basecoat and varnish to remove orange peel, dust nibs, paint runs and light scratches, and to level spot repairs before polishing. Work progressively from coarse to fine grits with a sanding block or sanding sponge, rinse the abrasive frequently and apply even pressure to avoid new defects. Recommended for experienced technicians and advanced DIYers working on automotive refinish, spot repair and Smart Repair jobs.
