Primers

Primers promote adhesion of subsequent coatings and often contain reactive components (e.g., etchants or epoxy) that prepare the substrate. They also protect steel against corrosion. We offer primers formulated for metal, plastic, wood and glass. Why use primers? Primers act as bonding layers on absorbent or low-energy surfaces, ensuring topcoats adhere evenly. Some primers fill minor scratches, while others deliver enhanced corrosion resistance. Choosing the right primer & safety Select primers by substrate: epoxy primers are commonly recommended on bare iron for superior rust protection. Choose between 1K and 2K based on required durability — 2K systems contain substantially more active resin than typical 1K products. Always follow the product data sheet: work in well-ventilated areas and use appropriate PPE (respirator, goggles, gloves). Check cross-compatibility and note that primer colour can affect the final shade.
