Backing pads

Backing pads attach to orbital, random-orbit and angle sanders to secure sanding discs or abrasive pads. They mount on the sander spindle (threaded or quick-change) and usually feature a hook-and-loop (Velcro) or PSA (adhesive) face. Available in foam and rubber densities, multiple diameters, hole patterns and hardnesses to match discs, interfaces and dust-extraction systems. Choose hard pads for heavy stock removal and flat surfaces, medium for shaping and general sanding, and soft for final finishing. Common thread sizes: M8 and 5/16"; some pads offer interchangeable threads or adapters for wider compatibility.
